Ecologia (part of the RSK Group) is a multidisciplinary, Brownfield Award winning, geo-environmental and contaminated land specialist which undertakes site investigations and remediation projects across the UK and Europe.
Presently we have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technician to join our team in Sittingbourne, UK.
The Role
You will primarily support our work in Environmental Claims, dealing with land-based oil spills and other incidents. The work involves an interesting mix of office and site-based work and a requires an adaptable approach to assist with urgent response situations.
Working within a small team, candidates will be required to assist in the response to pollution incidents, remediation of oil spills, investigation and remediation of contaminated land.
Key Duties / Requirements
Site duties will include -
- Assisting with oil spill response
- Supervise excavations
- Prepare & send samples to accredited laboratories
- Undertake remediation site inspections
- Liaise with contractors
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Procedures
- Provide feedback to the Project Manager from site
- Assisting with site investigations
- Soil and Groundwater sampling
- Operate scientific equipment
Office based duties -
- Maintenance of stores and equipment, updating project records, assistance with project preparation and report writing.
- The successful candidate could come from a range of different backgrounds, but experience and knowledge of any of the following would be a distinct advantage
- Oil spill response,
- Groundworks,
- Environmental sampling,
- Equipment maintenance,
- Building maintenance.
What We Are Looking For
- CSCS card is desirable
- A degree qualification an environment/land related subject is also desirable
- Our key requirement is for a confident, personable and practical individual with a flexible attitude to work
- Good communication and problem-solving skills are essential
- An ability to use common computer software (Word, Excel) is required
- The ability to work outdoors as an effective member of a team and on your own initiative.
- The job will require willingness to travel across the UK so a full UK/EC driving license is essential.

- Competitive salary between £26,000 & £29,000 depending on experience
