Binnies is recruiting Water Quality Consultants for our expanding multi-disciplinary Environmental Services team. We are a global leader in Environmental and Critical Human Infrastructure projects within Water and Flood Risk Management, delivering exciting projects for clients such as the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, Local Authorities, and Water Utility Companies. Our team also works on large infrastructure projects across sectors including transport and renewable energy. Our Catchment Management and Natural Capital teams utilize a full range of modelling tools and techniques to evaluate catchment interventions and their impacts on water resources and water quality, along with the associated financial and broader benefits.
This role particularly supports our growing water and catchment portfolio, where we develop and test innovative catchment management approaches and solutions through nature-based infrastructure, such as blue-green infrastructure for the water industry.

About the Role
- Providing technical support for catchment management and water quality projects, including reviewing and applying water quality modelling tools
- Producing Water Framework Directive Compliance Assessments to support environmental evaluations
- Contributing to Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) projects, including data analysis and interpretation
- Designing and coordinating water monitoring programs in line with best practices (e.g., groundwater and surface water quality surveys, water level surveys, geomorphology surveys)
- Supporting designs for river restoration, constructed wetlands, and natural flood risk management projects
- Advising on engineering implications for the water environment and developing mitigation and enhancement strategies
- Participating in catchment management planning and schemes/projects
- Writing impact assessments related to the water environment
- Reviewing colleagues\' work for quality and accuracy
- Liaising with project teams, clients, stakeholders, and the public as needed
- Line management and mentoring of junior staff
The ideal candidate has a few years of experience, is working towards Chartership, and possesses:
- An environmental-related degree
- Understanding of UK water management legislation
- Experience with water quality modelling tools (e.g., SIMCAT-SAGIS) is preferred
- Knowledge of relevant UK legislation
- Ability to manage workload and work well within a team
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- A full UK driving license
