Following a period of continued growth, we are seeking a Senior/Principal Hydrogeologist to join us in a full-time, permanent position at any of our UK offices in Bristol, Shrewsbury, Derby, Richmond, Stirling, and Manchester. What the role involves
At both Senior and Principal level, you will be working closely with Technical Director Andrew Tait, as part of our specialist Minerals team. With an in-depth understanding of the needs of the construction industry, you will be supporting or leading the management of complex licensing and permitting scenarios, particularly in relation to construction dewatering.
As a Principal Hydrogeologist, you will also take a lead role in:
- Providing expert advice on groundwater management, including abstraction licensing, pollution control, and monitoring
- Ensuring clients can navigate complex regulatory frameworks while sustainably optimising water resources
- Undertaking comprehensive hydrogeological assessments, including water resource, impact, and risk assessments
- Keeping up to date with developments in hydrogeology and related fields, sharing knowledge across the team
- Managing a portfolio of projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards
- Leading and manage a collaborative team, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships, identifying business opportunities, and tailoring services to meet evolving needs
As a Senior Hydrogeologist, you will support the delivery of projects through:
- Conducting hydrogeological investigations, including aquifer testing, borehole installation, and groundwater sampling.
- Analysing and interpret hydrogeological data, including water levels, water quality, and hydraulic conductivity data.
- Conducting numerical modelling to support conceptual site models and risk assessments.
- Preparing technical reports, proposals, and other documents for clients and regulators.
- Communicating effectively with clients, stakeholders, and regulators.
- Collaborating with principal staff members on project management and technical guidance.
- Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members.
Qualifications and experience
- A postgraduate degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, or a related discipline, with at least 8 years’ experience for Principal level, and 3 years’ experience for Senior level.
- Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., Geological Society, CIWEM) or working towards chartership.
- Excellent technical knowledge of hydrogeology, including groundwater resource assessments, impact assessments, and risk assessments
- Team and project management skills commensurate with your grade and experience
- A valid full UK driving licence

The Package
- Competitive salary of £38,000+ to £50,000+ depending on grade and experience
- Permanent, full-time contract (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday)
