Role Description The Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer will provide technical leadership on site investigation, assessment, and remediation projects, primarily focused on soil and groundwater contamination, land quality, and geotechnical interfaces. This full-time, on-site role is based in Helsby and involves planning and managing ground investigations, supervising fieldwork, and ensuring data quality and safety standards are met. The role includes interpreting geoenvironmental and geotechnical data, preparing factual and interpretive reports, and advising clients on risk, remediation strategies, and regulatory compliance. The Senior Geoenvironmental Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support project delivery from feasibility through to construction, and contribute to bids, proposals, and project budgeting. Mentoring junior team members, engaging with stakeholders, and helping to enhance RSK's technical capabilities and best practices are key aspects of the position.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in geoenvironmental engineering, including contaminated land assessment, soil and groundwater investigation, and remediation design.
- Experience with geotechnical investigation techniques, logging, sampling, and interpretation of ground conditions to support design and risk assessment.
- Proficiency in technical reporting, data analysis, and use of relevant software tools for modelling, mapping, and risk assessment.
- Thorough understanding of applicable environmental and planning legislation, guidance, and standards relevant to land quality and development.
- Proven project management skills, including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Clear and effective communication skills for engaging with clients, regulators, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring and supporting less experienced engineers and scientists in technical and professional development.
- Degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, geology, or a closely related discipline; a relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
- Professional membership or eligibility for chartered status (e.g., ICE, IEnvA, CIWEM, GeolSoc) is highly desirable.
