RSK Geosciences are recruiting for a Geo-Environmental Engineer to join the team based either Glasgow or Edinburgh. This is a full-time, permanent position. The Geosciences team provides consultancy and design services to a range of external clients including engineers, house-builders, oil companies and local authorities. Responsibilities:
- Managing fieldwork activities including supervising drilling and excavation works, and undertaking gas and monitoring, low-flow groundwater sampling and surface water sampling.
- Undertaking Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive site investigations for environmental and/or geotechnical purposes in line with national standards and codes of practice.
- Supporting the project manager in planning new projects including liaising with subcontractors and suppliers and preparing health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) documentation.
- Scheduling soil, rock and water samples for chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing.
- Writing factual and interpretative reports.
- Supporting tender managers in preparing fee proposals.
Qualifications and Experience:
- BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related subject essential.
- Up to 3 years previous relevant work experience.
- Willing to spend a significant amount of their working day out on site and away from home.
- Rock core logging capabilities is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing.
- Ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise workload.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office applications in particular Word and Excel.
- Proactive approach to professional development with current (or aspiring) membership of a relevant professional body.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
