Role:

We’re looking for a Design Manager to lead a multi‑disciplinary engineering team (15–20 people) delivering a £110m portfolio of wastewater treatment projects. The role requires driving solutions focused on phosphorus removal, storm overflow reduction, and enabling future growth using a holistic, place‑based approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design delivery across a portfolio of complex wastewater projects
  • Manage engineering plans covering scope, programme, cost, risk and resources
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver outcomes
  • Drive affordability, sustainability and low‑carbon design solutions
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and champion health & safety
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary team
  • Promote innovation, standardisation and digital engineering (e.g., 3D modelling)

About You:

  • Degree in Engineering (or equivalent); Chartered or working towards
  • Experience leading engineering teams and delivering design on capital projects
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations and design responsibilities
  • Wastewater or utilities experience desirable
  • Strong leadership, collaboration and problem‑solving skills
  • Passion for sustainability, innovation and continuous improvement
