We are seeking an experienced Project Manager - Civil Infrastructure, in Manchester, to lead the successful delivery of civil infrastructure projects from inception through to completion. This is a senior, client‑facing role requiring strong leadership, commercial awareness and technical oversight to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead and manage projects through all stages of the project lifecycle.
  • Define, agree and manage project programmes, milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate design teams, manage package handovers and approvals.
  • Proactively manage project risks, scope changes and delivery challenges.
  • Maintain project risk registers and implement mitigation strategies.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients and key stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong, proactive client relationships.
  • Communicate progress, risks and expectations clearly and effectively.
  • Prepare and present progress reports, proposals and project documentation.

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Manage project budgets, financial performance and forecasting.
  • Prepare fee proposals and contribute to larger bids and tenders.
  • Oversee WIP, invoicing, debtor management and financial reporting.
  • Manage appointments, sub‑consultants and purchase orders.
  • Support contractual matters and liaise with legal teams where required.

Programme, Planning & Resource Management

  • Develop detailed project plans and communication strategies.
  • Estimate resource requirements and manage team capacity.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to meet project objectives.
  • Lead weekly workload planning and prioritisation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering transport or infrastructure projects within a consultancy environment.
  • Strong project management, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercially astute, with experience managing budgets and fee proposals.
  • Confident communicator, comfortable working with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Organised, proactive and solutions‑focused.
