Job Description:
This is a full time role based in Glasgow, offering hybrid working, from the office and home.
You will primarily be working for Binnies UK Limited, the largest business within the RSK Group. Binnies develop intelligent solutions using their award-winning integrated planning and design approach to deliver functional infrastructure and lasting environmental and social legacies. This is backed by a culture that has stayed true since their foundation over 100 years ago.
Together with their clients, they are always striving to find a smarter way to deliver projects. From providing low carbon, sustainable and resilient water solutions, flood alleviation and environment services, to connecting people with insights and data.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a lawyer with a good grounding in infrastructure and/or construction work who has the acumen to deal with a varied workload and understands the importance of commerciality in their legal advice.
Key responsibilities will include:
- To provide vital day to day support to our group businesses, primarily to one of our larger businesses, reporting directly to the Senior Legal Counsel.
- To act as the main point of contact to one of our larger group businesses, providing high quality guidance and legal advice on a spectrum of matters, with a specific focus on infrastructure and construction within the water, energy and transport sectors.
- To draft, negotiate, review and advise on construction contracts (including NEC/FIDIC/JCT), major framework agreements, and joint ventures in respect of a wide array of large-scale projects, including international projects (with a focus on Southeast Asia).
- To draft, negotiate, review and advise on ancillary documentation including parent company guarantees, performance bonds and collateral warranties etc.
Person specification:
- Qualified Solicitor with at least 6 years PQE
- Law Degree/GDL/MA Law
- Legal Practice Course
- Admitted to Solicitors Roll
- Infrastructure / construction experience, preferably in the water, energy and transport sectors
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage heavy caseload of complex matters, work to tight deadlines and demonstrable experience working under pressure in a fast-paced role
