WRc, part of RSK Group, is looking for an enthusiastic person to support our friendly Waste and Resources team in Swindon. We are happy to consider full-time (37 hours per week) or part-time applicants with flexibility around days.

As we embark on an exciting phase of growth, we are looking for Laboratory Technician Trainee for projects which help our clients turn wastes into resources. Through your work, you can help us to achieve WRc’s objectives, including being ‘consciously sustainable’ and a ‘great place to work’.
Key Responsibilities:
To support the Waste & Resources consultancy and laboratory teams in the following tasks:
- routine laboratory work e.g. sample registration, putting samples in oven, sorting and sieving samples etc. This will include some manual handling within Health & Safety guidelines, as well as operation of machinery in our sample preparation facilities wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- transcription of sample data into spreadsheet record forms;
- assisting with maintenance and housekeeping in the laboratories;
- assisting with checking calibration of instruments on a scheduled basis.
Person Specification:
- A-levels or equivalent in science subjects (desirable)
- GCSE in Maths and English, basic numeracy and literacy skills;
- practical and methodical in approach to work and able to understand and follow standard procedures;
- basic knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and Outlook;
- good time management;
- willing to work shift patterns when the demand for this arises and have access to your own transport to travel to our labs in Swindon;
- eligible to work permanently in the UK;
- able to be based in Swindon office.
Our waste processing operates to strict Health and Safety requirements, and you will be equipped and trained to work safely.
