The role is based out of the Wakefield Office, West Yorkshire, this is a Hybrid role approximately ~80% Site based, which requires working away from home and staying away on some nights.
When not on site, you will be required to commute daily to the Wakefield office, so we are ideally looking for someone that lives within a reasonable daily commuting distance of the office, or someone that is willing to relocate.
Accountable to the Senior Engineering team, this role would suit someone with a passion for travel and the outdoors, with an enthusiastic, ‘can‑do’ attitude.
We are seeking someone who is looking to be upskilled in order to gain autonomy in role within the geotechnical / engineering field, working for a forward‑thinking, rapidly expanding company that invests in the learning and development of its people.
As the successful candidate, you will sit within the Instrumentation & Monitoring division, where you will be exposed to extensive collective experience within the organisation, the latest technology and leading academic research.
Your work, experience and inputs will be helping to find solutions to industry challenges and problems.
- Accountabilities
- Collecting, processing and managing monitoring data from a wide range of geotechnical instrumentation on site (full training provided).
- Assisting with or leading on site installation and monitoring projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification.
- Assisting with project deliverables, project performance and SHEQ information (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality).
- Upholding excellent safety and housekeeping standards, representing our company professionally on every site.
- Assisting with the maintenance and organisation of the yard and storage areas, including arranging, sorting, picking and delivery of soil and groundwater samples.
- Undertaking monitoring equipment calibration, repair and servicing when necessary.
- Supported by the company, maintain and develop technical knowledge, such as British Standards and industry standards.
- Undertaking internal and external training, as part of personal professional development plan.
- Working across the UK to travel to client sites, as and when required.
- Adhere to all RSK company policies and adhere to client policies and procedures when on site.

Qualifications
- Degree in Earth Sciences, Geography or Engineering.
- Ability to follow instructions, work part of a multi‑disciplinary team and also work solo, using own initiative.
- Self‑motivated, solutions focused, organised with effective time management.
- Ability to conduct business in a professional and polite manner at all times.
- Willing and able to work in variable environments and has a love of the outdoors.
- Ability to work remotely around the UK, including from home when agreed and approved.
- Possibility of some overseas travel.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, when required.
