Lead Civil Design Engineer in Glasgow

Binnies UK, part of the RSK Group, is looking for Lead Civil Engineers working within our Delivery group on Non-Infrastructure UK Water Engineering projects. Functioning as a technical specialist and/or in a lead role, you will be developing and applying advanced engineering techniques, concepts, and approaches. At Binnies, we offer flexible/hybrid/part-time and remote working patterns with a flexible UK base location.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, and applicable engineering codes and standards.
• Prepare calculations and develop civil engineering deliverables (models, drawings, and reports) whilst adhering to project budgets, schedules, and quality systems.
• Provide guidance to others and support continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with internal and external team members on complex projects.
• Prepare a variety of complex civil engineering deliverables for large or multiple projects.
• Develop recommendations for materials and construction techniques.
• Develop specifications for the identification, collection, and management of data for engineering work.
• Serve as a technical specialist and use knowledge and skill set to provide advice and guidance to project teams.
• Mentor and develop junior staff.
• Be fully conversant and comply with all aspects of health & safety duties of Designers.

Person Specification:

• Civil Engineering Design and/or Hydraulics/Structural background.
• Experience in design and build.
• Knowledge & Experience in the design and checking of non-infrastructure water/wastewater treatment works design.
• Ability to lead and manage a team of civil engineers and associated specialists (structural, geotechnical, and hydraulics) and to interface with other disciplines in the production of engineering deliverables.
