About the Role

Southern Ecological Solutions (SES), a member of the RSK Group, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Consultant to lead ecological projects and grow the business.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑level strategic oversight of a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
  • Lead complex ecological assessments and mitigation strategies.
  • Represent SES in the wider industry, sharing insights and contributing to best practices.
  • Ensure all projects comply with current legislation and best‑practice guidelines, upholding SES reputation through rigorous quality control.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments within SES and the RSK Group to deliver integrated solutions that meet client needs.
  • Lead and develop a team of ecologists, fostering excellence and professional growth.
  • Drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, securing contracts, and expanding the client base.

Qualifications

  • Hold a degree in ecology or a related field.
  • Substantial experience in professional ecological consultancy, including habitat management and protected species work.
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams, high‑profile projects, and business development within the ecological consultancy sector.
  • Deep knowledge of ecological principles, legislation, and survey techniques.
  • Strong understanding of the environmental and planning sectors with a track record of developing and executing strategic plans.
