RSK Biocensus, part of RSK Group is recruiting an Ecology Data Manager for maternity cover and we are looking for interim cover on a Fixed-Term-Contract to ensure development in this area of the company continues on track. The Ecology Data Manager would be supported by the GIS and Data teams. The position will be a fixed term contract for 1 year, with potential to extend dependent on performance and business needs. This is a Nationwide role, with Mixed working available on a full time, Permanent basis.
The Data Team develops tools and processes to improve visualisation of digitally captured field data, including development of survey proformas through collaboration with the GIS team, project managers and ecologists, to ensure systems are in place for all survey types and species at any scale of project across RSK Biocensus. The data team is responsible for the development and build of dashboards and experience builders that are suitable for a range of purposes and scales of project, and can be cloned for use on all projects. We offer support and services through the full length of projects, from tender stage through project onboarding and data collection, to final reports and project completion.
Main Responsibilities

Managing and overseeing advanced customisation of current digital data capture, Interpretation and presentation methods.

Input into development of workflows and encourage advancement of current systems.

Undertake all work with an appropriate level of care and attention, compliant with RSK procedures. and within given budgets and timescales.

Lead new initiatives to improve our working practices.

Commercial awareness of ecological and environmental consultancy services.

Have a good understanding of ecological principles and survey techniques and how they affect the data we collect and need to interpret and / or present, both internally and externally.

Experience working in an agile environment, maintaining & prioritising a backlog & communicating progress to stakeholders, including any issues and brokering solutions to avoid recurrence.

Research new or advanced methods of working and apply knowledge practically through creation/development and implementation of systems to demonstrate proof of concept.

JavaScript / Arcade programming to assist design and development of ESRI apps suite in ArcGIS online, or willingness to learn, would be beneficial.

Experience working within an ESRI (or equivalent) environment.

Knowledge of UI/UX – all development must be suitable for ecologists using platforms.

Knowledge and awareness of SQL / FME / HTML / ArcGIS Pro SDK, which are essential for future development of standardised proformas and how we interrogate/display survey data for a variety of audiences, such as clients, project managers and ecologists.

Awareness of good practice and clean working procedures following programming principles so any code or products we develop are "maintainable, extensible and easy to understand".

Support the GIS and Data Management teams, in relation to use & development of ESRI products including webmaps, experience builders, dashboards, reports and webhooks allowing GIS systems to talk to Microsoft systems.
