Nicholas O’Dwyer is providing Technical Assistance and Supervision services for key water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the Gaziantep, Adıyaman, and Kilis provinces in Turkey. The programme includes the design, construction supervision, and operational planning of drinking water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and network rehabilitation. The work places a strong emphasis on sustainability, institutional capacity building, and resilience.
Nicholas O'Dwyer is seeking a Clerk of Works to assist in the inspection and quality control of construction works on water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Resident Engineer, the Clerk of Works will ensure compliance with specifications, identify non-conformances, and maintain detailed records of construction activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and inspect construction works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Document progress, quality issues, and defects using site records and inspection reports.
- Report any non-conformances or construction anomalies to the Resident Engineer.
- Verify workmanship and material quality against technical specifications and contract documents.
- Attend site meetings and provide detailed site feedback to the supervision team.
- Assist in tracking contractor progress and confirming compliance with safety procedures.
- Maintain a culture of continuous improvements across all aspects of the working environment and projects.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities will form part of this role as it evolves.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
- A relevant technical qualification in construction, civil engineering, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in on-site inspection or quality control roles on Water or Wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of civil engineering construction practices, materials, and workmanship standards.
- Proven ability to identify and document defects and non-compliance during construction.
- Clear and concise report writing skills and attention to detail in site documentation.
- Competent in office packages, Microsoft, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage many tasks concurrently.
- Excellent clear and concise communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
- You will have an agile and “Can Do” mindset.
- Ambitious self-starter with high self-standards.
