Within RSK, our specialist Air Quality team provides high-quality technical support to clients across the UK and internationally. We are looking for an Air Quality & Permitting Consultant to join our growing team of specialists. With around 10 – 15 air quality professionals across the UK, this is a collaborative and technically focused team working on a diverse portfolio of projects spanning multiple sectors.
Location: Commutable to either Bristol, Manchester or Glasgow
Working Pattern: Hybrid – office, home and site-based
Salary: Up to £39,000 per annum depending on experience
This is an excellent opportunity for a consultant with 3 – 4 years’ experience to further develop their expertise in air quality monitoring, modelling and environmental permitting while contributing to meaningful environmental projects.
The Role:
- Support the delivery of a wide range of air quality projects from field monitoring through to modelling, analysis and reporting.
- Visiting sites across the UK to monitor ambient air quality and dust, using a range of passive and active sampling equipment.
- Supporting predictive air quality and/or odour assessments using detailed air dispersion models.
- Analysing and interpreting environmental data.
- Preparing technical and interpretative reports for clients.
- Supporting the preparation of quotes and tenders for new work.
- Contributing to the ongoing growth and development of the air quality team.
- Assisting with the training and mentoring of graduate consultants.
- Undertaking occasional international travel when required.
As part of a dynamic consultancy environment, you may also be asked to undertake additional tasks that align with your experience and capabilities.
About You:
- Degree (or postgraduate qualification) in a relevant science discipline.
- 3 – 4 years’ professional experience in air quality, odour or dust assessment.
- Strong understanding of air quality science and environmental processes.
- Practical experience with air quality monitoring techniques (active or passive sampling).
- Experience using air dispersion models such as ADMS-ROADS, ADMS 6 or AERMOD.
- Ability to analyse complex datasets and produce clear technical reports.
- Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with clients and stakeholders.
- Experience using ArcGIS or QGIS.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Understanding of UK and EU air pollution policy and regulatory frameworks.
