RSK Geosciences, an RSK Group company, are recruiting for a Senior Utility Geophysicist/Engineer to join the team based in Helsby, UK. This is a full-time, permanent position. The Geosciences team delivers consultancy and design services to a wide range of external clients including engineers, house-builders, oil companies and local authorities. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review risk assessments and method statements, and health and safety plans.
- Provide NMPI, incident reports as appropriate.
- Good knowledge of, and adherence to RSK policies and procedures particularly G5.15 and permits to dig.
- Prepare tenders (technical scope of works and commercial aspects including the price).
- Supervise junior staff in the project team in particular with respect to fieldwork preparation.
- Prepare for fieldwork by making sure correct equipment is available and in working, calibrated order, RAMS are in place and HASP signed off before arriving in the field.
- Review and amend HASP, including Point of Work Risk Assessments (POWRA) on arrival at site where appropriate and induct field staff including subcontractors.
- Supervising fieldwork for utility surveying and basic topographical techniques.
- Undertake and report PAS128 surveys as required by the survey specification and technical procedures.
- Maintain a continuous professional development (CPD) record.
Qualifications and Experience:
- BEng or BSc or equivalent in relevant discipline.
- Working towards Chartership if not already Chartered.
- CSTA/QCF Level 3 Certificate in Utility Mapping and Surveying is a requirement.
- Proficiency in undertaking PAS128 GPR Utility Mapping Surveys, GPR, EML and Cover Lifting.
- Experience in Topographical recording of utility and GPR detections.
- Competence in use of computer software packages required for project work (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD).
