RSK Geosciences are recruiting for a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer to join the team based in Hemel Hempstead, UK. This is a full-time, permanent position. This is an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to join our well-established and experienced Geotechnical Consultancy team. The team provides geotechnical consultancy and design services to the wider RSK Group, as well as a large number of both private and public sector external clients. Our current workload includes medium to large infrastructure schemes and renewable energy, commercial and residential development schemes, which present a wide range of geotechnical issues to be managed, from interpretation and assessment of ground conditions and hazards through to delivery of fully detailed design solutions. We offer award-winning internal geotechnical training and we are committed to supporting candidates along the pathway to Chartership.

Responsibilities

  • Running and/or supporting Phase I & II geo-environmental ground investigations for all scales of projects and types of site with senior support as necessary
  • Undertaking site works using a variety of intrusive investigation methods
  • Soil logging to current UK standards, including laboratory scheduling
  • Writing factual and interpretative reports
  • Supervising remediation and earthworks projects (training provided)
  • Undertaking geotechnical design, analysis and modelling (training provided)
  • Developing project management skills within the team working alongside more experienced personnel
  • Liaising with clients, regulators and internal specialists (as necessary)

Qualification and Experience

  • BSc degree level qualified in Geology, Engineering Geology, Civil Engineering or a related subject; MSc in Engineering Geology/Geotechnical Engineering or Soil/Rock Mechanics (but not essential for all roles)
  • 1 to 3 years specific relevant experience
  • Good understanding of geology and ground investigation works
  • Full UK Driving Licence (commutable distance of Hemel office). Typical split of 60-40% between site and office; site works typically 1-2 weeks maximum and within the south east, but can be further afield with occasional longer periods on site
