What You’ll Be Doing

As a Hazardous Waste Technical Assessor, you work closely with other technical specialist within our team to provide sustainable waste and resource management solutions to our clients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing waste assessments and classification of mostly construction, demolition, and excavation wastes in general accordance WM3 and other related guidance
  • Managing projects from start to finish, including handling of large data sets, preparing technical reports, managing project finances and liaising with Clients.
  • Conduct occasional site visits to undertake sampling, inspection and/or supervision of waste generating practices.
  • Working closely with other team members, as required, to deliver on a broad range of projects and increase your knowledge and skills in waste and resource management including:
    • CL:AIRE DoW CoP Material Management Plans (MMPs)
    • Environmental permits (applications, variations, and surrenders)
    • Waste management plans, environment management plans
    • Bespoke waste training packages

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking individuals with a proven track record in the classification and assessment of hazardous waste. Ideal candidates will have:

  • A degree in Chemistry or a Geoscience-related subject (MSc preferred).
  • Demonstrable experience and technical competence in waste classification and assessment in accordance with WM3 and other related guidance.
  • Understanding and knowledge of waste legislation and policy in the UK.
  • Experience within the contaminated land sector or working for an environmental consultancy would advantageous but not essential
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, eager to contribute to projects and the wider team.
  • A valid UK driving licence and willing to spend some working days away from the office and home at times.
  • Located within an hour of Bristol / Manchester.
