RSK Geosciences, an RSK Group company, is recruiting for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer (Project Manager) to join the team based in Glasgow, UK. This is a full-time, permanent position. You will project manage a variety of geotechnical and land contamination projects across energy infrastructure, renewable energy, development/regeneration projects, and local authorities, working alongside an experienced UK-wide team.
What You Can Expect In This Position
As a senior geotechnical engineer/engineering geologist, you’ll be responsible for project management of a variety of geoscience investigations, including many carried out in a Principal Contractor role for energy framework clients. This may include larger, more complex geotechnical investigations with incumbent management of SHEQ matters. The role suits someone with a proactive “can do” approach, close attention to detail, enthusiasm to deliver, and the ability to work with a wide range of people. Current team works out of Glasgow and Edinburgh; choice of base location can be offered.
What you'll be doing
- Project managing a variety of geo-environmental and geotechnical ground investigation and interpretative projects for external clients and internal teams.
- Provide technical leadership to site teams in day-to-day delivery of projects.
- Knowledge of soil and rock logging to current geotechnical standards, including preparation and finalisation of exploratory hole logs within gINT software.
- Scheduling of laboratory testing (with support from geotechnical and environmental specialists).
- Preparing health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) documentation in line with RSK and client requirements.
- Writing factual and interpretative reports including Desk Studies for environmental and/or geotechnical purposes in line with national standards and codes of practice.
- Establishing and developing strong working relationships with new and existing clients, integral to growth of the Geosciences Scotland team and the wider business.
- Supporting tender managers in preparing fee proposals and occasional tender preparation.
What we're looking for
- BSc or BEng degree in Geology (or Earth Science), Geotechnical, Chemistry, Environmental Science or related subject (essential).
- Post-graduate qualification in Engineering Geology or Geotechnical desirable but not essential.
- At least 5 years relevant work experience.
- CSCS card; SMSTS and IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous.
- Role may require site attendance for project management duties, including site visits and audits to ensure compliance with Client’s safe systems of work.
- Good knowledge of health and safety best practices and CDM Regulations advantageous.
- Registered with a suitable professional body and working towards Chartered status with Geol Soc/ICE.
- Ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise workload for independent and team working.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
- Full UK driving licence essential.
