RSK Geosciences is seeking experienced Geotechnical Engineers/Engineering Geologists to join our well‑established consultancy team in Hemel Hempstead. Candidates should have at least 2–3 years of relevant experience in planning and supervising ground investigations, and a passion for delivering high‑quality geotechnical services across the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake geotechnical desk studies, Geo‑hazard & geospatial site appraisals.
  • Oversee ground investigations and subcontractors.
  • Supervise earthworks.
  • Log soil and rock to current geotechnical standards and schedule laboratory work.
  • Collate data and write factual and interpretative geotechnical and geo‑environmental reports.
  • Prepare earthworks documentation in accordance with DMRB HD 22/08 ‘Managing Geotechnical Risk’.
  • Participate in geotechnical analysis and design of slopes, earthworks, foundations, basements, retaining structures and ground‑movement assessments.
  • Engage in geo‑environmental site appraisals.
  • Occasional travel to other UK offices and sites; assignments overseas for up to 1–2 months are available.

Person Specification / Qualifications

  • Degree in engineering geology, geology, civil engineering or related discipline.
  • Second degree in geotechnical engineering is an advantage.
  • Aspirations to obtain Chartered status with a relevant institution (e.g., CGeol/CEng) and membership of the Geological Society of London, or working toward corporate membership of another professional institution (e.g., ICE).
  • Proven postgraduate professional experience.
  • Good understanding of geology, site investigation works and ground engineering.
  • Strong report‑writing skills.
  • Computer literate: proficient in MS Word and Excel.
  • Experience in CAD, ArcGIS/QGIS and geotechnical software packages preferred.
  • Experience in GI specification and contract documentation preferred.
