As a result of continued growth, ZED are now looking for a Building Physics Engineer to support their Building Physics and Net Zero Carbon team. The role will be home based/flexible/office based, with some travel UK wide. Working under the guidance and supervision of an experienced team, you will develop your existing knowledge and skills in building physics, energy modelling and Net Zero Carbon Lifecycle Carbon Assessments (LCA) and assist with the development of energy and Net Zero Carbon strategies for new and existing buildings. With the opportunity to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop over time, you’ll be supported and encouraged to work towards Chartership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To work within and support the ethos of ZED, SLCE and the wider RSK
  • Building physics and parametric modelling
  • Building performance and operational energy optimisation
  • Certification and compliance (Building Regulations Part L, EPC, BREEAM, etc)
  • Net zero and life cycle carbon assessment (LCA) modelling
  • Feasibility studies and report writing
  • Site surveys and existing building assessments

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience using dynamic simulation software
  • Understanding of the limitations of dynamic simulation software and how to set up models to an appropriate level of detail for the task in hand
  • The ability to use your experience of building analysis to give early stage design advice to architects and engineers prior to completing simulation models
  • Must have experience using different modelling software packages such as IES, TAS, CFD, Revit, Grasshopper
  • Degree qualified
  • Qualified level 5 Non-Domestic Energy Assessor or working towards it
  • Over time you will be supported and encouraged to work towards Chartership
