Due to continued growth in the topographical survey department, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Land Surveyor to join our Hemel Hempstead team. The level 3 (L3) apprenticeship will involve block release to Dudley College and, at the end of the programme, you will receive your geospatial qualification.
Responsibilities
- Assisting our Land Surveyors in data collection through multiple practices
- Topographical Surveys & Terrain modelling
- Measured Building and 3D scanning
- Learning to process data in survey software and finalise in AutoCAD
- Undertaking any other activities required to help our land surveyors complete their works
- Completing site documentation for site work crews
- Learning technical knowledge to further develop into a land surveying career
- Drafting data or helping finalise reports
- Other duties that may include organising equipment and store room, van checks and keeping equipment maintained
What We’re Looking For
- This role will appeal to someone who is interested in starting or has already started a career in the land surveying industry and enjoys working outdoors as well as in the office.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK at the time of joining
- Strong written and verbal English skills
- GCSEs in Mathematics and English (grades 9-4 including Maths & English)
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Reasonable IT skills
- Hardworking, flexible and conscientious with good timekeeping and a keen attitude to work
- Strong work ethic and a desire to learn new skills
- Flexibility to work away from home and occasionally out of hours
- Pre‑employment medical, including a drug and alcohol test

- Experience using AutoCAD
- Already have an understanding of surveying principles
