Established in early 2020, RSK Wilding is a multidisciplinary team supporting innovative and strategic solutions across ecological restoration and nature recovery. We bring together unrivaled expertise in biodiversity, restoration, sustainable land management and environmental law. We are part of the RSK Biocensus business and work within the RSK Group to help a range of clients—from large‑scale developers and public authorities to passionate landowners—to offset carbon emissions and achieve biodiversity net gain (and other natural capital benefits) through ecological restoration and rewilding across the UK.
The Role
As our Technical Director at RSK Wilding, part of the RSK Group, you will play a key and responsible role within RSK Biocensus, RSK Wilding and RSK Nature Repair. You will win work, provide leadership, manage staff, provide technical advice and lead by example. Both roles involve specific areas of additional responsibilities within the business.
You will also have an exciting opportunity to join the RSK Biocensus Senior Management Team and will be expected to contribute positively and collaboratively to the running of the business.
You will be expected to manage both line reports and project staff on major projects, as well as your own time, workload and utilisation. You will also support other colleagues in their technical and project management duties as required.
Main Responsibilities
- Understanding the RSK Biocensus, RSK Wilding and/or RSK Nature Repair offerings in detail, carrying out biodiversity assessment, writing BNG proposals and reports, and working closely with developers, landowners and our own habitat creation teams to deliver biodiversity offsets.
- Providing leadership, direction and advice, acting at all times with professional integrity, and exercising sound professional judgment within (and recognising the limits of) your competence.
- Directing major projects, including financial objectives, resource allocation, managing sub‑contractors, risk and quality assurance, ensuring timely delivery and effective communication, seeking and responding to client feedback and exceeding client expectations.
- Producing and overseeing the production of a wide range of technical reports, directing their completion and reviewing, as necessary, to meet the standards required.
- Designing and leading specific research projects.
- Commissioning and/or leading restoration and implementation fieldwork and providing advice on complex scheme and ecological issues (as appropriate).
- Representing the company at external events, as required and directed, including events relating to professional membership and business development, building networks within the industry.
Key Experience & Qualifications
- Design and delivery of restoration schemes across a range of scales and embedding ecological restoration, rewilding and/or nature‑based solutions.
- Specification, contract management and site leadership for delivery of restoration projects.
- Leading multi‑disciplinary teams and project groups.
- Building relationships, bidding and tendering, and management of significant clients.
- Knowledge of current and emerging standards of practice.
A full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle is required for this role.
Personal Attributes
You will be self‑motivated and proactive, managing workload and time within a fast‑paced environment. You will lead major projects from commencement to completion and close‑out, communicate effectively, and bring a wide range of expertise and knowledge to succeed at RSK Wilding.
As a leader within the business you will mentor, coach and develop staff, direct reports and specific teams and potentially support organisational competencies and training.

Salary: ÂŁ56,000 + depending on experience.
