Part of the RSK Group, RSK Biocensus are currently looking for a Project Coordinator to join our project management team. Our successful candidate will have strong administration, numeracy and interpersonal skills and be a confident communicator and team player. Thriving in a role where there is frequent change, fluctuating demands and issues to solve, you will be able to prioritise, respond quickly and proactively support your colleagues. As a valuable member of our team, you will provide practical and logistical support for the resourcing and day‑to‑day running of ecology projects. If you are based in Scotland then we would love to hear from you, but also across the UK we welcome applications with relevant experience.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a flexible team, led by a project manager, to provide practical, logistical support projects, where activities may vary according to each project’s specific needs.
  • Having a working knowledge of each project that they are involved in and being able to take proactive steps to help the project manager in everyday tasks as agreed.
  • Step in for the project manager in their absence (by prior arrangement, and with appropriate support from the Project Director).
  • Processing timesheet and expenses data for projects.
  • Drafting applications for payment and invoices, raising purchase orders and credit notes as required.
  • With guidance from the PM, negotiating appropriate rates with subcontractors.
  • Drafting subcontractor agreements with input from PM.
  • Providing administrative support for ecologists working in the field and being their point of contact during the working day.
  • Creating and maintaining trackers of competency/onboarding/survey completion.

Key Skills & Experience

  • You will ideally have at least 6 months to 2 years’ experience in a project organisational, coordinating and communication or administration role.
  • Your qualifications will substantiate your strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • A degree or equivalent in an environmental discipline is desirable, not necessary unless there is ambition for progression through the project management pathway, in which case technical knowledge is desirable.
  • In all cases, we require demonstration of the skills, attitude and aptitude necessary to perform the duties of a project co‑ordinator; in addition to a demonstrable interest in ecology and the natural environment.

You Will Also Have

  • A working understanding of commercial variables and an understanding of costs and sales.
  • Being able to demonstrate good writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively by email and messages.
  • Demonstrate good verbal skills and the ability to communicate effectively by phone and Teams.
  • Be competent in the use of Excel and the ability to interrogate, analyse and present data within spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrate competence in the use of PowerPoint and the ability to produce presentations using RSK templates and present these to clients and colleagues.

Personal Attributes

  • You will be able to listen effectively to clients, other RSK colleagues and team members to ensure instructions are understood and carried out correctly.
  • You will also have the ability to work collaboratively with other RSK Business Units for the benefit of the company and promote RSK as an environmental “one stop shop”.

Other Key Attributes

  • Problem solving, self‑motivated and can show initiative.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Willing to adapt and learn.
  • Present solutions not issues.
  • Willing to contribute to the team and “get stuck in” and ensuring tasks are completed in full and accurately.

Salary & Company Benefits

Along with a competitive salary of between £28,000 and £29,000 (depending on experience), you will be able to enjoy a wide range of benefits including:
