About The Role

What Are We Looking For?

Our in‑house design team is looking for a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Asset Management business platform and assist in the delivery of water treatment solutions across the UK.

You will take on a key role in all aspects of projects from scoping and detailed design right through to implementation, ensuring compliance with client specifications and current regulatory standards, with a strong focus on low‑carbon solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meeting with clients to discuss specific intervention requirements.
  • Leading the planning and implementation of projects in association with our Delivery Management teams.
  • Providing technical guidance on mechanical matters to the wider project team and senior management.
  • Line management and development of mechanical engineers within your team.
  • Taking the lead on the development of mechanical design deliverables by you and your team.
  • Mentoring, identifying and developing the next generation of mechanical engineering talent.
  • Ensuring compliance with client specifications and current regulatory and industry standards.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Degree/HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered engineer with a relevant professional body is preferable.
  • Mechanical design engineering experience within the municipal water/wastewater treatment sector.
  • Design management/lead experience.
  • Programme/financial management experience.
  • Experience of working at all design stages, from optioneering/FEED through to construction support and as‑built is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects consecutively.
  • Full UK driving licence.
