An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Driver Trainer (LGV/HGV) to join a leading waste management and environmental services organisation based at our Leicester Depot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the recruitment process through pre-employment driver assessments.
  • Deliver a comprehensive 5-day Driver Induction programme in line with company standards and current legislation.
  • Provide ongoing refresher and additional vehicle-mode training to improve driver competence and customer service.
  • Maintain accurate driver competence and training records using internal systems.
  • Conduct reassessments and retraining following incidents or performance concerns.
  • Review driving performance data with depot management and identify areas for improvement.
  • Carry out behavioural interventions and coaching to support safe driving practices.
  • Communicate vehicle technical updates and operational changes to drivers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within driver training and depot operations.
  • Maintain your own professional development and industry knowledge.

About You

  • Minimum 3 years' HGV driving experience, including experience across multiple HGV vehicle types.
  • Proven experience conducting driver assessments and training.
  • Valid Class 2 HGV Licence and Digital Tachograph Card.
  • Up-to-date Driver CPC qualification.
  • Good understanding of HGV mechanics and vehicle maintenance.
  • Competent in driver checks, defect reporting and compliance procedures.
  • Knowledge of relevant transport legislation, including the Working Time Directive.
  • Strong communication, coaching and organisational skills.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional early starts, late finishes, night shifts and weekends when required.
