Highgate School is seeking a Chair of Governors to succeed Mr Bob Rothenberg, who is stepping down in January 2027, after exceptional service to the Board. The Governors are seeking someone with the skills and experience to be the next Chair and help Highgate retain and develop its position as one of London's leading co-educational independent schools.

Highgate comprises three schools in one: a Pre-Preparatory, a Junior and a Senior School, with strong links between all three. While each school has its own identity, there are common threads that run through a Highgate education. Highgate is a progressive, forward-thinking school which aspires to be a place for learning and scholarship, an exemplar for the healthy life, and a reflective community.

This role is voluntary and the Chair of Governors will have the opportunity to work closely with the Head, Adam Pettitt, and his senior leadership team to develop the School’s future plans and monitor its current ones to ensure a Highgate education is the very best it can be.

If this is an opportunity that appeals to you and you believe that you may have the required skills, experience and attributes to be a Chair of Governors, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Highgate School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be asked to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service for an Enhanced Disclosure. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020. The safeguarding responsibilities of this post are detailed in the candidate information brochure.

RSAcademics is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in schools and to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
