Working out of our Corby Distribution Centre, the Building Services Technician is responsible for quick incident response to Operations and Office related issues; effecting repairs or making adjustments to ensure maximum uptime, safety and operating efficiency of the equipment. RS’s global 24/7 operation ships in excess of 60,000 parcels daily, so keeping our DC’s working optimally is key to our success!
What you can expect to be doing:
- Responsible for balancing and prioritising own workload.
- Quick incident response to Operations and Offices related issues; effecting repairs or making adjustments to ensure maximum uptime, safety and operating efficiency of the equipment.
- Supporting the departmental/project shift manager in developing and implementing continuous improvement ideas and projects.
- Set priorities for attending to problems in more than one location.
- Liaising with operators and managers as required.
- Taking ownership of workshop/office activities to support the above, including: spares availability, improvement of procedures, sourcing items, etc.
- Cradle-to-Grave support and management of all site HVAC, Lighting and Electrical infrastructure.
- Locating, managing and controlling spares usage, including contacting suppliers for prices etc.
- Identification of opportunities, development of proposals, and implementation of solutions that deliver tangible improvements to operations, offices and the facilities departments.
- Management of contractors, suppliers and internal resource, including allocation of work, preparation of required specifications and ensuring the contractor delivers to the agreed specification.
- Ensuring all work adheres to Health & Safety guidelines, policies, legislation and requirements.
- Liaise closely with the Offices, Operations, Facilities and Projects teams.
- Responsibility for site HVAC and electrical documents, plans and testing and monitoring of associated equipment.
- First response for breakdowns and maintenance of Goods/Passenger lifts, Warehouse powered doors/shutters, Dock levellers and various other site building equipment.
- Large-scale involvement on any project work concerning (including purchase of) new HVAC, Lighting or Electrical Distribution boards.
What we’re looking for:
- A recognised trade apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
- Electrical qualifications of at least C&G certified.
- HVAC maintenance experience.
- Electrical installation, testing and monitoring experience.
- Ability to safely work at height.
- Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office and Planned Preventative Maintenance Systems.
- Electrical and Mechanical experience in Warehouse and Offices environments.
- Experience of working with the pressures associated within a time critical, distribution/operational/manufacturing environment.
- Training and Experience in the operation, fault‑finding and repair of various site warehouse equipment including basic electronics, industrial electrical applications, pneumatics and hydraulics, motor/gear boxes, associated equipment.
- Proven track record of fault finding.
- Hands‑on technical experience and expertise.
- Excellent communication skills to all levels of the business.
- Excellent data analysis and problem solving skills for the evaluation of logistics and technical issues.
