Full-time Company Description For over 35 years, R&S Landscaping has provided Bergen County residents and businesses with grounds maintenance, design/build, irrigation, snow/ice removal, lighting and plant health care. Job Description Are you an experienced landscape construction team leader? Must have experience with excavation, site work, ability to use backhoe, drive manual dump truck, skid steer, mini excavator & use a demo saw. Are you able to lead a team and run a project from start to finish? Experience required installing pavers, dry laid stone, building retaining walls, grading, planting trees & shrubs, and all details of landscape construction. Must be able to use a transit and set grades. Experience with sprinkler repair, irrigation, lighting, installing sod, seeding, perennials a plus. We are looking for a smart and hardworking experienced landscape construction team leader that is looking for an opportunity to grow.
Salary: $22-$25/hr based on experience.
Qualifications EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
- Min 3 years experience running a landscape construction team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to drive a trailer
- Ability to accurately complete daily paperwork
- Ability to drive a manual transmission truck
- Desire to learn and improve
Additional Information RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Production/Management Review plans/designs with manager prior to start of job plan for labor, equipment & material needed.
- Review plans with manager and decide the most efficient method for implementing a project within estimated bid hours.
- Supervise daily production of assigned jobs.
- Manage daily construction production of assigned crew.
- Maintain accurate daily records of crew travel time, installation time, material and daily job records.
- Assist with material selection & purchasing for projects.
- Safely move equipment to and from job sites.
- Establish grades with transit.
- Perform snow plowing between Dec-March.
- Assists other staff as required.
Customer Service Manage and exceed customer expectations. Communicate throughout the day with manager and provide updates on job status. Communicate all client requests to manager prior to performing additional work. Ensure customer satisfaction. Follow additional work authorization (AWA) procedure. Communicate cross-divisional requests to manager.
Employee Performance Management & Development: Assist in training crew members on production skills. Assist in providing motivation, leadership, coaching, training, supervision & support for all construction staff. Help staff develop within the company. Assist in monitoring crew membersβ performance weekly through informal coaching.
Shop, Vehicle, Materials, Equipment, and Yard Maintenance Clean and organize truck and trailer on a weekly basis. Follow equipment repair requests procedure. Assist with equipment repair/maintenance during winter. Maintain snow plowing trucks & plows during winter. Assist with truck maintenance & repairs.
Training and Safety Attend all required education classes. Adhere and enforce all safe driving and equipment policies and procedures. Wear all required PPE including, but not limited to gloves, eye glasses, and ear protection. Ensure all crewmembers wear and use all safety gear. Adhere to and enforce all other related safety policies and procedures. Wear company uniform and work boots at all times.
