Overview
The Category Manager role is a key role within the RS PRO, own brand team, accountable for developing the RS PRO category strategy for the product technologies they are aligned to.
Working with group, regional and local stakeholders to execute growth plans, delivering targeted profitable growth, customer acquisition and ROI.
The category manager will be instrumental in delivering a best-in-class RS PRO product offer for our customers and will be responsible for the maintenance of the UK-based RS PRO supplier and product portfolio including the end-to-end product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of UK-based RS PRO suppliers, including supplier management, performance monitoring, and contract negotiations to secure improved commercial terms.
- Develop and execute RS PRO category/technology strategy planning, governance, and execution.
- Develop & execute RS PRO supplier business plans to realise the defined RS PRO category strategy.
- Use digital data and insights to inform ranging decisions, highlight opportunities, and drive accelerated portfolio & supplier performance.
- Manage end-to-end product lifecycle including NPI, discontinuations and revenue protection.
- Deliver best-in-class RS PRO category/technology offers aligned to customer needs and the overall category strategy.
- Support EMEA Sourcing managers with the growth of the EMEA supplier base; maintain strong relationships with suppliers, functions, and markets.
- Collaborate with the EMEA Product & Supplier Management team to provide an optimized range.
- Drive delivery of KPIs such as: New product introduction volume & revenue, supplier and technology growth, supplier performance targets, inventory availability/value/health, new product sell-through rate, and discontinuation revenue protection.
- Demonstrate good analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong problem-solving and process-management capabilities.
- Collaborate across group stakeholders with strong communication and cross-cultural teamwork.
Qualifications
- Desirable: Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Demonstrates an excellent understanding of, and ability to articulate, the RS Value Proposition.
- Experience with online trading and digital tools; experience with online digital toolsets.
- Experience in working with global supplier brands and in a matrix, cross-cultural environment.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and ability to influence others.
- Positive, can-do attitude with ownership and results orientation; strong collaboration and teamwork.
