Location: This is a hybrid role, offering a combination of being able to work remotely and from our Corby office.
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (6 months)
The Opportunity
This role acts as one of the main points of contact for managers within the area of the business that you will support. It is focused on supporting and guiding managers through ER cases, helping to drive best practice consistently across the function.
You will work alongside a People Business Partner supporting our IS&T, Customer Experience and Finance employees.
What You Will Be Doing
- Dealing with complex cases, such as disciplinary grievances and appeals
- Acting as the main People contact for managers in your business area
- Where needed, support organisational design and change management activities
- Managing the relationship between the organisation and unions or employee bodies
- Managing consultations and negotiations
- Creating and reviewing People policies
- Dealing with disputes appropriately (for example, mediation or tribunal cases)
- Ensuring managers are upskilled through training, coaching and mentoring
- Overseeing all people practices ensuring they are legally compliant
- Support the roll out of the People Services case management system
- Review changes in Employment Law and work with the wider team to prepare for any changes that impact the business
What You’ll Bring
- Demonstrable experience in managing a varied and sometimes complex employee relations case load
- Strong, demonstrable experience of working directly with Trade Unions and employee representative bodies
- In depth knowledge of employment law, regulations and best practices
- Strong communication skills including the ability to influence and negotiate with Senior Stakeholders
- Ability to handle difficult situations with discretion and sensitivity
- Previous ER experience essential
- Experience with People systems ideal
