This is a hybrid role, offering a combination of being able to work remotely and from our London and Corby offices – there will be significant travel involved across our global business.

The Senior Director of Delivery – Product & Supply Chain is accountable for the strategy & definition, prioritisation, end to end delivery and reporting of RS Group’s Product & Supply Chain strategic projects to deliver the Group Strategy. The scope of the Product & Supply Chain delivery plan covers all organic investment across Product & Supply Chain, including the delivery of Product & Supply Chain projects identified within the Process & Operational Excellence programme. Also includes monitoring of Business-as-Usual projects within the Product & Supply Chain Accelerator function.

The role is accountable for delivery of all projects in the plan to cost/time/quality and ensuring Investment Proposals are robust and the benefits are delivered, working with Business Sponsors and Business Owners within the relevant region or functional team. The role will ensure the Product & Supply Chain delivery function has the skills, capability and capacity required to exploit all new and existing opportunities and ensure strategic targets are realised.

The role will manage a team of project professionals (permanent and contract) including project managers and change managers. The role will provide support and challenge to the Product & Supply Chain Accelerator function leadership team and matrixed Product & Supply Chain team in delivering the change portfolio and championing the portfolio both within the Product & Supply Chain functions and beyond. They will build a coalition of senior stakeholders across the organisation to support the delivery of the roadmap.

The role will need to set realistic expectations across senior management and broker discussions to ensure teams are aligned and set up for success. The role holder will need to operate at a strategic level including setting the future strategy for the function and critically to provide support to projects at a detailed level to ensure they deliver to cost/time/quality. This will include managing relationships with IS&T leadership team and other key delivery partners, including owning the relationship with external suppliers.

The role holder will work closely with the Global Process Owners and Global Data Owners to translate the ambition for global and standardised processes and solutions into delivery projects across Product & Supply Chain, ensuring that the GPOs and GDOs are supported with the right skills and capacity to enable successful delivery of the transformation. The role will collaborate with other senior delivery leads across the organisation to ensure standards for project and programme delivery are being met, and to ensure a holistic view of the overall organic investment portfolio is maintained.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Defining the strategy for the Product & Supply Chain delivery function.
  • Creating the strategy and pipeline for the Product & Supply Chain organic spend, and aligning this within the P&SC accelerator function and regional teams.
  • Work with the VPs and leaders in the other delivery functions and the VP of Transformation to ensure a balanced portfolio of organic spend across all areas, ensuring the Product & Supply Chain strategy is represented.
  • Accountable for the end to end delivery of organic investment projects within the Product & Supply Chain area to cost/time/quality as measured by the Project delivery KPI for the Accelerator function.
  • Ensure creation of robust business cases, working in collaboration with other functions to gain approval – such as finance, IS&T, regional teams.
  • Work with regional teams to ensure their input and approval is obtained before submission.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities within the portfolio where benefits can be accelerated effectively.
  • Undertake regular portfolio reviews and assurance and represent the organic investment plan in the Product & Supply Chain quarterly forums.
  • Ensure projects follow the standardised project and programme company approach.
  • Problem solve across the portfolio of projects, and deep dive into individual projects as required to ensure projects are driven to a successful conclusion, including managing delivery partners from within RS or external suppliers.
  • Build consensus and alignment across the matrixed Product & Supply Chain Leadership Team to the strategic plan and associated priorities, providing counsel and advice to P&SC on shape and scope of change portfolio.
  • Create and maintain a Product & Supply chain global change radar, and act as a champion for change within Product & Supply Chain matrix organisation, aligned to counterparts within other parts of the group business.
  • Ensure change management follows standardised approach.
  • Work with GPOs and GDOs within P&SC to ensure clear future roadmap of delivery projects to be prioritised and resourced into the overall organic investment plan.
  • Liaise with Group Transformation Office and business stakeholders on initiatives outside of P&SC workstreams and ensure that key resources within the Product & Supply Chain organisation are appraised of impact of change, dependencies understood, and any conflicts managed.
  • Lead the P&SC Delivery function and develop a team of project professionals – permanent and contract resource, and accountability for ensuring the right levels of skilled resources are available to deliver the portfolio of change projects.

What You’ll Bring

  • Substantial experience in a strategic change leadership position within a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.
  • Ability to operate at strategic level and deep dive into detail as required.
  • Demonstrating flexibility and ability to prioritise self and team.
  • Proven track record on interacting and negotiating with Senior Management in a highly sensitive and collaborative environment to agree strategic direction and build a coalition.
  • Experience of building appropriate and effective networks, locally and Group-wide to ensure business units all pull in the same direction.
  • Excellent communication skills for the delivery of regular reports/updates for the Product & Supply Chain leadership team, which must be easily digestible, unambiguous, engaging, informative and convincing.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform standard analyses such as performance analyses, competitive analyses, market analyses, etc.
  • Evidence of success in a result driven environment.
  • Track record of successfully delivering change in top tier organisations.
  • A proven toolkit of strategic and transformation methodologies which can be flexibly applied to most of the situations likely to arise in setting up and leading a multi-year transformation.
