Executive Director, Project/Program Management – United Kingdom
RRxCo is partnered with a clinical-stage Biotechnology Company that develops novel medicines for severe immune disorders. This exciting and innovative firm is expanding its team by creating an opening for an Executive Director of Project/Program Management. Focused on the field of auto-immune disorders, our client is set to develop several assets over the coming years.
Summary
The Executive Director of Project Management will play a critical role in aligning timelines, budgets, and deliverables across functional teams in their fast-paced biotech environment.
This opportunity will provide a strategic and streamlined approach to delivering milestones, risk mitigation, and communication of KPIs & data.
Operating across both the UK and US, the successful candidate will facilitate seamless collaboration between geographically diverse teams and stakeholders, ensuring project objectives are met.
While mostly virtual, this role will require periodic travel to their office in London once a week (this is typically Thursday). Physical attendance at other project and team meetings will be required. Approximately 20% of international travel.
Deliverables
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including CMC, Clinical, Regulatory, QA, and Commercial, to develop and maintain integrated project timelines across the UK and US
- Monitor project progress, track milestones, and identify risks, ensuring alignment with company goals and across time zones
- Facilitate effective communication between internal teams and external partners across the UK and US
- Organise and lead project meetings, prepare agendas, document action items, ensure follow-through, accommodating schedules across time zones
- Lead and develop cross-functional tools and outcomes to drive the clinical development programmes including but not limited: target product profiles & integrated product plans / risk registers & risk mitigation plans / milestone-based Gantt charts & scenario planning models / key decisions dashboards / lessons learned registers
- Develop and implement tools and processes to improve project planning and execution
- Provide timely reports to senior management on project status, risks, and key decisions
- Ensure proper identification and mitigation of risks whilst communicating across projects teams
- Track key performance indicators & appropriate data to ensure ongoing performance and continuous improvement across the portfolio
Profile of the Individual
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or business-related field; advanced degree is desirable
- Extensive experience of project management experience in Life Science ideally biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, or a related industry
- Strong understanding of biotechnology product development processes, including Clinical, CMC, manufacturing, and regulatory requirements
- Previous or current working experience ideally at a clinical stage (Phase II – III) sponsor
- Demonstratable experience in managing projects across international teams, particularly in the UK and US with competing priorities
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet)
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, strategic thinking, with the ability to work effectively across geographically diverse teams with emotional intelligence
- PMP/Prince2 certification or equivalent is preferred
- Excellent analytical, negotiation and drafting skills, with strong oral and written communication skills
- Willingness to work hard in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
- High level of integrity, ethics, and discretion
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise multiple tasks from multiple parties and work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Experience representing a company in external interactions and engagements.
