We're recruiting for an experienced CDM Designer to join a growing team, taking the lead on health and safety throughout the pre-construction phase while ensuring projects are delivered in line with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
The Role
As the Principal Designer, you'll work closely with clients, consultants, designers and contractors to coordinate the pre-construction phase, manage design risk and ensure projects meet all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Principal Designer under CDM Regulations 2015.
- Plan, manage and coordinate the pre-construction phase.
- Produce and manage Pre-Construction Information and Health & Safety Files.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to identify, eliminate and reduce design risks.
- Advise clients on their CDM duties throughout the project lifecycle.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and statutory authorities.
- Prepare and review design risk registers.
- Support Building Regulations and Gateway submissions.
- Chair design coordination and risk review meetings.
- Ensure compliance with current legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice.
- Monitor project documentation, change control and document management processes.
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015 and current health & safety legislation.
- Professional qualification with RIBA, CIAT, RICS, APS or equivalent.
- IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent qualification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to identify and manage design risk while delivering practical solutions.
- Confident leading meetings, producing reports and managing multiple projects.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
