We are recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to oversee the delivery of a major highway’s construction scheme. This role will be responsible for managing a multi-million-pound project from delivery through to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and within budget. Experience in highway construction is essential, with highway structures experience preferred.
Rate: £500 per day
Region: Southeast England
Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office
Contract Length: Up to 6 months
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of a multi-million-pound highways construction project.
- Manage project scope, programme, budget and risk throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate contractors, consultants and key stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Monitor project performance against agreed milestones, budgets and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, industry standards and project requirements.
- Manage project governance, reporting and stakeholder communications.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues to minimise impact on delivery.
- Oversee contract administration and ensure works are delivered in accordance with specifications.
- Support decision-making through accurate project reporting and performance monitoring.
- Ensure project objectives are delivered within agreed timescales and budgets.
Skills and Experience
- Proven experience delivering highways construction projects as a Project Manager.
- Experience managing large-scale construction schemes with responsibility for programme, budget and delivery.
- Knowledge of highways construction methodologies, standards and regulations.
- Experience managing contractors, consultants and key stakeholders.
- Understanding of project governance, risk management and reporting processes.
- Experience ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
- Highway structures experience is desirable.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver against project deadlines.
