We’re recruiting for an experienced Enforcement Officer to join a busy Public Protection & Regulatory Services team within a South London local authority. This is a frontline operational role focused on tackling anti‑social behaviour, environmental crime and public nuisance issues across the borough.

Key responsibilities

  • Investigating ASB, environmental crime and public nuisance complaints
  • Responding to incidents and carrying out enforcement activity
  • Gathering evidence and preparing case files
  • Issuing warnings, notices and enforcement actions where appropriate
  • Working closely with residents, councillors, police and partner agencies
  • Managing reactive and proactive enforcement operations

Areas of enforcement

  • Anti‑Social Behaviour
  • Fly‑tipping, littering and environmental crime
  • Noise nuisance and out‑of‑hours response
  • Unlicensed street trading
  • Highways and waste enforcement
  • Public nuisance investigations

We’re looking for candidates with

  • Experience within enforcement, regulatory services, community safety or policing
  • Experience investigating ASB, environmental crime or public nuisance matters
  • Knowledge of relevant enforcement legislation and procedures, including the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and Anti‑Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload

Desirable experience

  • Previous police or law enforcement background
  • Experience within ASB or environmental enforcement teams
  • Experience preparing prosecution or evidential case files
