I’m currently supporting a London Local Authority with the recruitment of Interim Disrepair Surveyors to help manage their current legal disrepair caseload.
- Council: London Borough of Lambeth
- Role: Disrepair Surveyor
- Contract: 6 months (initially)
- Location: 6 Brixton Hill, SW2
- Working pattern: 3 days on site/ 2 days from home
Main responsibilities
- Inspect properties relating to legal disrepair claims.
- Review expert reports and letters of claim.
- Carry out pre- and post-inspections and diagnose complex repairs.
- Prepare detailed repair specifications using SOR codes and raise works orders.
- Manage and monitor contractors, including variations.
- Work with Disrepair Case Officers on Section 11 and Environmental Protection Act claims.
- Provide technical advice on building pathology, structural defects and cost-effective repairs.
- Carry out quality checks and liaise with the Repairs Cost Team on value for money.
- Deal with tenants/leaseholders and identify safeguarding concerns where necessary.
- BSc (Hons) Building Surveying or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Knowledge of administration systems, databases and void management.
- Experience working in a fast-paced surveying/repairs service, including variations and post-inspections.
- Proven experience managing contractor relationships.
