We are recruiting for a Planning Officer (Strategic Development) to support development management within a local authority setting. This role sits within the Strategic Development Team and will focus on managing conditions and obligations linked to major planning applications. This role will provide experience working on large-scale developments, including amendments under Sections 96a and 73 of the Town and Country Planning Act, and supporting pre-application discussions with developers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the discharge of planning conditions and obligations associated with major and strategic applications.
- Process amendments under Section 96a and Section 73 of the Town and Country Planning Act.
- Provide pre-application advice to developers in line with adopted and emerging planning policy.
- Support the delivery of development management services within the Strategic Development Team.
- Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to progress planning applications and related matters.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with planning legislation and procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Experience working within a development management role.
- Knowledge of the UK planning system and relevant legislation.
- Experience dealing with planning applications, including conditions and amendments.
- Degree in planning or a related subject, or equivalent planning experience.
- Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
- Communication skills to engage with developers and stakeholders.
