RQ is building referral management infrastructure for professional services firms - helping accountants, financial advisers, solicitors and other regulated businesses capture, manage and report on referrals properly. We’re looking for a Technical QA & Release Manager to take ownership of quality across our product and release process. This is not a traditional “click around at the end” QA role. We need someone who can bring structure, discipline and technical judgement to how work moves from development to production.

You’ll work closely with our CTO, developers, product and customer-facing team to make sure features are properly tested, edge cases are considered, regressions are caught early, and releases go out with confidence.

What you’ll own:

  • QA of new product features before they go to production
  • Clear acceptance criteria and test plans for tickets
  • Regression testing across key RQ workflows
  • Release checklists and go/no-go recommendations
  • Bug reproduction, triage and high-quality bug reports
  • Testing around integrations, data flows, permissions and user journeys
  • Building out lightweight automated test coverage where appropriate
  • Using AI tools to accelerate test case generation, edge-case discovery and QA documentation
  • Helping us move from founder-led QA to a more scalable release process

What we’re looking for:

  • You’ll likely have experience as a QA Engineer, Technical QA, Quality Engineer, Test Analyst, Release QA or similar in a SaaS/product environment.
  • You should be comfortable with:
    • Testing web applications in staging/pre-production environments
    • Writing clear test cases, acceptance criteria and regression checklists
    • Browser dev tools, console and network inspection
    • API testing tools such as Postman or similar
    • Reproducing bugs clearly and working closely with developers
    • Thinking through edge cases, permissions, data states and user behaviour
    • Introducing practical QA process without slowing the team down
    • Working in a fast-moving startup environment
    • Experience with test automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress or similar would be a strong plus.

The person we need:

You are detail-oriented without being bureaucratic. You care about quality, but you understand that startups need pace. You can push back when something is not ready, but you do it constructively. You are comfortable taking ownership and building process where it does not yet exist. Most importantly, you understand that QA is not just about finding bugs. It is about helping the whole team ship better software with more confidence.

Why join RQ?

You will not be one of many QA people inside a large machine. You will be the person who helps define how quality and release ownership works at RQ as we scale. You’ll work on a product with real operational complexity: integrations, referral workflows, reporting, compliance-sensitive disclosures, CRM connections and user journeys across multiple types of professional services firms. If you like bringing order to complexity and want to own quality in a growing SaaS business, we’d love to hear from you.
