RPS are seeking Experienced Leakage Technicians to join our Water Operations Division on behalf of Wessex Water. Roles are available in Yeovil and Trowbridge. Our Leakage Engineers support our strategic priorities – delivering excellent service and executing complex operational tasks. About The Team

The RPS Asset, Surveying, and Inspection (AS&I) team provides industry‑leading services to the UK Water Industry. Our employees support services for Water Networks, Drainage, Surveying, Leakage Consultancy, Water Resources, and Efficiency. The team analyzes complex data and provides pragmatic solutions, including reducing water leakage and preventing flooding and pollution in local communities. We assess, diagnose, and determine the most appropriate solution to reduce leakage and support the delivery of regulatory targets, pinpointing leakage with a high level of accuracy to deliver great client service.

About You

As a key member of the Asset, Surveying, and Inspection (AS&I) business, your role as a Leakage Technician is critical to our strategic priorities – delivering excellent service and executing complex operational tasks. You will need to work flexibly, including weekends, evenings, and overtime when required, and be willing to travel to different locations. It is essential that you enjoy working outdoors, rain or shine, mostly outside.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and determine the most appropriate solution to reduce leakage and fully support the delivery of regulatory targets.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety is maintained.
  • Achieve KPI targets and deliver leakage detection/reduction within DMA’s.
  • Attend excavations requested by R&M to assist leak location.
  • Train and mentor assistant Leakage Technicians.
  • Assume responsibility for general admin tasks, including electronic timesheet submissions, weekly vehicle checks, and defect reporting.
  • Form and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and clients.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Enjoy working outdoors; most work is conducted outside (rain or shine).
  • Good basic maths and English.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, and overtime as required.
  • Good hearing.
  • Happy working alone and as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • National Water & Hygiene.
  • Unit 2 NRSWA.

Health and Safety

  • Moving heavy items including inspection chamber covers.
  • Working in all weather conditions, including night work.
  • Possible confined space and highway work.
  • Mandatory drugs and alcohol tests, and a DBS check will be undertaken.
