RPS are seeking experienced Network Quality Assurance Technicians to join our Water Quality & Valve Operations (Flushing) Team supporting our client Wessex Water. We are looking for Technicians based around Bath and Taunton. You’ll play a key role in supporting field operations, ensuring high-quality standards are maintained during network activities such as shut-offs, reconnections, and stop-tap replacements. This role would suit someone with a solid background in water network operations—particularly around valve operations, flushing, and stop-tap work—who is looking to progress into a quality-focused position with direct client engagement.
About The Team
The RPS Asset, Surveying, and Inspection (AS&I) team provides industry-leading services to the UK Water Industry. Our employees support Water Networks, Drainage, Surveying, Leakage Consultancy, Water Resources and Efficiency, analysing complex data and delivering pragmatic solutions that reduce leakages, prevent flooding and protect local communities. Our team assesses, diagnoses, and determines the most appropriate solution to reduce leakage and fully support regulatory targets. We pinpoint leakage with a level of accuracy that delivers a great service to clients.
About You
As a key member of the AS&I business, your role as a Network Quality Assurance Technician is critical to our strategic priorities—to deliver excellent customer service and execute complex operational tasks. Whether you are just starting out or taking the next step in your career, this position offers growth opportunities with RPS. You will need to work flexibly, including weekends, evenings and overtime if required. Travelling to different locations is mandatory, and you must enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Your Responsibilities
- Carry out planned flushing activities in line with pre-set flushing programmes and network plans.
- Operate hydrants and valves safely and effectively to maintain network integrity.
- Use chlorine and turbidity monitoring equipment to capture and record accurate water quality data throughout the flushing process.
- Undertake network operations including controlled shut-offs and reconnections as required.
- Ensure water quality standards are maintained and any anomalies are promptly reported.
- Accurately record data from field activities, ensuring all results are logged and submitted to the client in a timely manner.
- Liaise with network operations teams and supervisors to coordinate field activities and maintain clear communication.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures during fieldwork.
