RPS, a Tetra Tech company is looking for a Principal Consultant for Permitting and Compliance to be based in one of various locations across the UK.

About The Team

RPS is a leading consultancy in providing permitting and compliance services and is actively supporting projects that will deliver the UKs Net Zero commitment.We are proud to have led the market by successfully securing the first permit for a carbon capture and utilisation project in the UK.

The RPS Permitting and Compliance Team supports a range of projects including waste management, conventional and renewable energy, oil and gas and other major industrial clients.We support our Clients projects through the whole life cycle from initial permit advice and applications to ongoing permit compliance and variations through to eventual permit surrender.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Providing advice on and managing/preparing applications for environmental permits, licenses and approvals from regulatory agencies – including new applications and variations to and surrender of existing permits.
  • Advising on and managing/developing environmental management system documents and supporting management plans required by our Clients environmental permits.
  • Overseeing permit monitoring and reporting to the UK Regulators.
  • Discharging pre-operational conditions and permit improvement condition items.
  • Responding to and dealing with technical queries on projects as required and in a professional and timely manner.
  • Applying business development skills to delivering the business plan and securing new work.
  • Preparing proposals.
  • Building strong Client relationships to maintain existing client base and develop new Clients.
  • Ensuring quality control of the output of projects in accordance with the approved QA system.
  • Organising own workloads and assisting junior staff manage their workloads to deliver high quality work to agreed deadlines.
  • Supporting junior staff development.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in preparing permit applications.
  • A good understanding of UK regulators permitting guidance and requirements.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability and confidence to build and maintain working relationships with clients, external bodies and internal teams.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
