We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to support our highly respected and knowledgeable Laboratory team based in Manchester. RPS Laboratories is a team of Analysts, Chemists, and Technicians that operate from purpose‑built laboratory facilities which have a long history of providing expert advice and analytical solutions to the agro‑chemical sector. Our laboratories enjoy an international reputation for solving complex and novel analytical problems in a wide variety of food, feed, and forage crops.

As a key member of the Laboratories business, your role as Laboratory Technician is critical to helping us conduct investigations and formulate effective solutions to help our clients comply with international quality standards, maximum residue limits (MRLs), environmental regulations, and much more. By joining us you will collaborate with our clients to design a tailored analytical programme to meet their complex regulatory needs and provide analytical support during remediation, clean‑up projects and subsequent routine monitoring.

RPS Laboratories is a team of Analysts, Chemists, and Technicians operating from purpose‑built facilities with a strong history of analytical excellence. The Manchester laboratory was one of the first laboratories in the UK to gain MCERTS accreditation for the analysis of stack emissions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Analysis of wet chemistry & gravimetric samples in line with laboratory procedures.
  • Preparation of reagents and filter media.
  • Undertake basic laboratory testing as required.
  • Order consumables/reagents as needed to maintain adequate stocks.
  • Ensure quality records are maintained in line with laboratory requirements.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards.
  • Comply with H&S requirements.
  • Report H&S issues to senior management.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Science‑based degree or equivalent.
  • Good time‑management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to cope under pressure.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, seeking advice where necessary.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
