Graduate Mechanical Building Services Engineer – 2026 Intake
Join the RPS Tetra Tech Graduate Scheme. This two‑year graduate programme offers hands‑on experience, expert mentorship and a tailored development plan. For the 2026 intake, the role is based in Birmingham (optionally Newcastle) and is part of the Building Services team.
The Role
As a Graduate Mechanical Building Services Engineer you will support the technical delivery of projects across a range of sectors – education, healthcare, commercial and residential. You will:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, attend client meetings and site visits.
- Produce technical drawings and calculations that meet industry standards.
- Integrate mechanical and electrical systems to meet sustainability and efficiency goals.
- Access structured learning, mentorship and progression towards chartership.
Your Impact
You will develop both technical and professional skills, contributing to the design and delivery of building systems that support healthier, more sustainable environments. Your work will influence modern buildings through smart, sustainable design.

You will be assigned a location, cost centre, line manager and a primary technical discipline based on your qualifications and business needs. Disciplines can be explored after the programme based on interests.

Access the Chartered Management Institute Foundation Chartered Manager pathway via flexible, online Bite‑Size programmes covering topics such as Managing Change, Leading in a Digital Age, Conflict Resolution, Project Management and Data‑Driven Decision Making.
Application and Selection Process
Submit an up‑to‑date CV detailing your academic background, relevant experience and motivation for joining the programme. All applications are acknowledged. Shortlisted candidates complete an online assessment. Successful applicants are invited to a final assessment – either an in‑person interview or an assessment centre based on location and discipline.
