This role offers the chance to work across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial, and retail sectors, delivering high-quality consultancy services that support safe and compliant environments. Hybrid role with 2-3 days on client sites and 2-3 days working from home, predominantly around the M25 with some national travel. Purpose & Scope: As a key member of the consultancy team, you will conduct fire, health & safety risk assessments, provide expert advice, and support clients in meeting regulatory standards. You will report to the Technical Director and contribute to project delivery, client engagement, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct independent fire, health & safety risk assessments, primarily in the commercial sector, and advise clients on compliance and best practice across key fire safety elements (fire resistance standards, alarms, sprinkler systems, wet and dry risers, fire doors, lifts).
  • Produce detailed technical reports that meet standards such as BAFE, with site notes, photographs, and actionable recommendations; ensure all assessment responses are justified.
  • Prepare technical commentary and evidence of compliance; subject to technical review and feedback from the Technical Director.
  • Develop and apply foundation-level knowledge of fire safety legislation and standards; understand fire safety strategies across various commercial properties.
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels, coordinate site visits with the Technical Director and Resource Team, and represent the company in interactions with property managers and directors.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of assessments over time, contribute to team goals, and support development, training, and mentoring within the national team.
  • Support growth into higher-risk portfolio assets (e.g., high-rise residential) as capability develops, with a potential development pathway into Chartered IOSH status.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Mandatory: Level 3 fire risk assessment qualification; desire to undertake mid-rise assessments after gaining relevant technical abilities.
  • Registered with IFSM or IFE at least at the Student or Technician level; willing to work towards Tier 2 CFRAR (competent fire risk assessors register).
  • Diploma level qualification in Health and Safety; minimum NEBOSH at entry level, plus NEBOSH fire to Level 3.
  • Willingness to work towards Chartered Status with IOSH; experience in risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems is beneficial.
  • Experience or training in construction environments, fire engineering, or related disciplines is advantageous.

Beneficial Experience

  • Experience or training in risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems; equivalent practical experience in fire, health, and safety consultancy may be acceptable.
  • Progress toward or attainment of Chartered IOSH status; IFSM Technician (TIFSM) membership; experience in retail, leisure, manufacturing or engineering sectors.
