We are currently in the market to recruit a CAD Technician to join our dynamic and growing Water Consultancy team operating across the UK. You’ll work on exciting AMP8 and AMP9 projects, ensuring exceptional water services in a collaborative environment. RPS, Tetra Tech are actively engaged in several long-term wastewater programmes across the UK water industry, helping our clients address major pollution and flooding challenges. As part of these programmes our wastewater consulting team undertake a broad range of projects including urban drainage and water quality modelling studies; WINEP, SOAF, DWMPs and catchment investment planning; and the development of engineering solutions from feasibility through to outline and detailed design.
About The Team
RPS Water Consulting is a team of engineers, designers, modellers, and data analysts providing asset management and operational strategy development, to our water industry clients to support business planning and delivery. This is an evolving industry, providing challenges and opportunities that require innovation, dedication and teamwork to help us meet our clients’ needs.
About You
- You will be experienced in liaising with design teams to understand fully the project needs. You will be able to work with different disciplines and provide a quality output. You will have a high level of attention to detail and be passionate about the quality of your work.
- You will be experienced in producing drawings, models, schedules and diagrams at all stages of the project lifecycle, and will have worked in the water industry and ideally for a range of clients and to a range of CAD and design standards.
- You will have a reasonable understanding of how water and wastewater treatment processes, networks and pipelines operate.
- Additionally you will have:
- Relevant experience working in an engineering consultancy, preferably within the water industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and similar packages for creating and modifying technical drawings.
- Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Revit would be an advantage.
- Experience in civil and structural design, reinforcement detailing and MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation) design.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in drawings and compliance with industry standards.
- Understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices in the water industry.
- Familiarity with construction methods, equipment and materials used in water infrastructure projects, including pipelines, treatment plants, and storage facilities.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) and integration of CAD with data management software and add-ins, including intelligent P+IDs
- A full driving licence.

Your Responsibilities
- Work on a wide variety of projects across a variety of major long-term frameworks with water companies and contractors across the UK.
- Seek to achieve positive outcomes for the projects and community.
- Work closely with other senior and principal engineers and other stakeholders supporting project delivery.
- Prepare and produce of engineering drawings, and assisting engineers in preparation of technical details
- Assist in training junior staff or new team members on CAD software and best practices.
- Ensure quality assurance systems and procedures are followed.
- Compliance with and development of CAD standards and standard CAD blocks.
Qualifications
- HNC in a relevant engineering subject or equivalent
