As an Analyst, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of various instruments. You will ensure that samples are analysed in a timely manner by scheduling time on instruments and communicating with extractors and senior analysts to ensure an efficient process. You will review results and highlight any anomalous results and provide support to senior analysts. We\’re RPS, our projects are all around you. What You’ll Be Doing
- Follow established procedures to perform trace organic analysis on a wide range of samples/matrices.
- Operates primary assigned instrumentation within the GC section.
- Processes and interprets analytical results for entry onto LIMS.
- Applies correct QC requirements for analyses.
- Performs routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of analytical equipment.
- Maintains accurate data records.
- Maintains a safe working environment in accordance with company policy.
- Follows company Quality Policy.
- Raises QC queries and non-conforming work as needed.
- Prepare samples, solutions and reagents following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
- Works with extraction staff to ensure samples are prepared for analysis according to customer requirements.

BSc in Chemistry or closely related subject or equivalent industrial experience.
Demonstrable experience working within an accredited analytical testing laboratory, ideally within the environmental or food sectors.
Experience of sample preparation techniques e.g. liquid/liquid extraction, solid phase extraction etc.
Flexibility in analytical approach and ability to cope with high throughput and varied analysis in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent time management skills, attention to detail and ability to cope under pressure.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of and experience using single and triple quadrupole GC-MS systems would be advantageous.
Experience using Agilent Chemstation and Masshunter software and Microsoft Office is desirable.
