RPS is currently seeking to recruit a Structural Investigation Engineer to join our Structures team.
About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple sectors, including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, energy, and more. We focus on balancing form and function, sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, supported by expertise across industries and disciplines. We help clients harmonise design drivers through engineering, architecture, and development services.
What you’ll be doing: This role offers career progression within our industry-leading team, renowned for expertise across the built environment. You will be involved in delivering residential foundation and superstructure projects, including low and medium-rise housing and commercial developments. You will also help develop our structural investigation services for clients in London, Milton Keynes, and the Midlands.
- Structural investigation and reporting on various building structures from residential to commercial, using different materials and structural forms
- Assist Operations Director / Director in developing investigation services
- Assist management of the structural engineering team
- Manage projects and project teams independently
- Handle financial responsibilities for your projects
- Prepare fee quotations and invoices
- Manage staff and consultants
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders and clients
- Conduct site visits, structural surveys, investigations, and repairs for issues like fires or foundation problems
Who we’re looking for: You should have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, be chartered with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent, or be progressing towards chartership. Additionally you will:
- Have experience in structural investigations and reporting for residential and commercial buildings, including tall structures
- Be skilled in identifying, reporting, and repairing building defects
- Be familiar with structural safety assessments and the Building Safety Act
- Design foundations, masonry, concrete, steel, and timber structures to Eurocodes
- Have residential market experience, including traditional and framed structures
- Be familiar with Tekla (Tekla Designer, Tedds), AutoCAD, and Revit
- Management experience is advantageous
- Be decisive, motivated, proactive, and innovative
