Senior Engineer - Building Structures

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Building Structural Engineer to support our Glasgow-based structures team and assist with providing a multi-disciplinary consultancy design service to RPS’s contractor, developer, and utility clients. You will design, check, and manage all elements of the design of multi-disciplinary projects. The role involves detailed structural analysis and design checks of various structures, site inspections, supervision of construction, and developing close working relationships with contractors. You will coordinate geotechnical and civil resources across offices, manage multiple projects from concept to construction, and represent the team to clients, helping to secure new work.

Qualifications:

• BEng, MEng in Civil/Structural Engineering or similar
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent (desirable)

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

• Postgraduate experience in consulting engineering or similar
• Knowledge of engineering design procedures and construction processes
• Proficiency with structural analysis and 3D modelling software
• Experience with materials like concrete, steel, timber, masonry
• Knowledge of BS/EN standards
• Experience in structural condition inspections (beneficial)

Responsibilities:

• Report to the Structures Technical Director in Glasgow
• Produce design packages for all project phases
• Coordinate with environmental, geotechnical, and civil disciplines
• Support team technical development
• Prepare tender submissions and presentations
• Act as a point of contact for clients and participate in meetings
• Guide and supervise junior colleagues
• Maintain technical knowledge and participate in asset inspections
