RPS, now a Tetra Tech company, is seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our UK Environment Division. We deliver a range of renewable energy project inputs, including ecological appraisals, ornithological surveys, protected species surveys, mitigation design, and post-construction monitoring. RPS is a global multidisciplinary consultancy shaping environmental, social, and economic landscapes.
What you’ll be doing
- Planning and conducting habitat and protected species surveys, supervising field staff, and identifying key receptors, constraints, and opportunities for development.
- Writing and delivering technical reports, EcIA, ES chapters, contributing to HRA reports, and designing mitigation measures to meet NPF4 requirements.
- Managing project finances with support from senior management.
- Collaborating with management and clients to generate new work streams, including leading tenders.
- Travel will be required; a full UK driving license is necessary.
Who we’re looking for
- Full membership of CIEEM and a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
- Experience in delivering Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) on various projects and knowledge of preparing and implementing EPS and other license applications.
- Possibly an EPS licensed consultant (Class 1 or 2 bat or other species) with comprehensive knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation and survey techniques.
- Strong time and project management skills, with excellent influencing and communication abilities to build relationships with colleagues, clients, and external bodies.
